Senior Quantity Surveryor
We’re representing a leading UK energy infrastructure contractor delivering major transmission and renewable projects nationwide. Their work includes the design, build and commissioning of substations and associated infrastructure up to 400kV, helping strengthen the UK grid and support the transition to net zero.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in the Cardiff area, supporting a portfolio of live substation projects.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor looking to play a key role on complex infrastructure schemes. Working closely with project managers, engineers and clients, you’ll help drive commercial performance, manage risk and ensure successful financial outcomes across multiple projects.
You’ll take ownership of contracts from inception through to final account, while supporting strong commercial governance across delivery teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all commercial aspects of multiple projects from award through to final account
- Administering NEC3 / NEC4 Engineering & Construction Contracts, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events
- Producing CVRs, cost forecasts and detailed financial reporting
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery
- Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors
- Negotiating and agreeing variations, claims and compensation events
- Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants and internal teams
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members where required
About You
- Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure
- Strong practical knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within project teams
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous experience within substations, utilities, power or high-voltage infrastructure
