Managing Quantity Surveyor – Transmission (Major Infrastructure Project)
We’re representing a leading UK energy infrastructure contractor delivering complex transmission and renewable projects across the country. Their work includes the design, build and commissioning of substations and associated infrastructure up to 400kV, supporting the UK’s transition to a more resilient, low-carbon energy network.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of a major National Grid project based in South Yorkshire
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll lead all commercial activities on a high-value infrastructure scheme, working closely with site teams, planners and senior stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
This is a key leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, contract expertise and the ability to operate confidently within a live project environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all commercial activities across a major transmission project
- Managing subcontractor packages, valuations and final accounts
- Preparing and managing applications, claims, cost reports and forecasts
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Managing variations, delays and cost recovery strategies
- Working closely with delivery teams to ensure programme and commercial alignment
- Ensuring compliance with contractual, health & safety and quality standards
- Acting as a key interface with the client and wider project stakeholders
About You
- Proven experience in a senior commercial role on major infrastructure or construction projects
- Experience managing multi-million-pound subcontractor packages
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
- Background within utilities, transmission, energy or large-scale infrastructure (preferred but not essential)
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially astute with the ability to manage risk and drive performance
- Full UK driving licence
