Architectural Technician / Architectural Assistant (Contract)
This role is to work for an award-winning architectural practice, renowned for delivering exceptional bespoke residential projects for discerning private clients. With an established reputation in the luxury design sector, they combine creativity, technical excellence, and a highly personalised approach to every commission.
They are seeking an Architectural Technician / Architectural Assistant to join their team in West London on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technician or Assistant to apply practical design and technical expertise across design and construction phases, supporting the delivery of high-end residential projects.
You’ll be involved in the production of drawings, specifications, and construction packages, while collaborating closely with the design team, consultants, and contractors. This position will suit a detail-driven individual who takes pride in technical quality and enjoys working on bespoke design solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing planning drawings for statutory approval
- Producing and presenting technical 2D & 3D design solutions (AutoCAD + traditional methods)
- Producing production information under guidance of the Project Architect and Directors
- Liaising with consultants and manufacturers on product selection and construction detailing
- Assisting with site inspections, snagging, and quality checks
- Preparing construction packages and specifications (NBS Chorus)
- Creating SketchUp and 3D visuals to support the design team
- Supporting the development of bespoke details and layouts for space planning
You will bring at least 3 years’ experience in an architectural office with strong technical and detailing expertise. You’ll have excellent AutoCAD skills, an eye for detail, and a collaborative approach to supporting project delivery.
Key requirements:
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (essential)
- Strong ability to produce and interpret technical details
- Understanding of Building Regulations
- Experience with specifications (NBS)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Motivated, detail-orientated, and proactive
- Experience with SketchUp and Photoshop desirable
- Revit experience a plus (not essential)
